Friday August 2
Some updates from the past week. Adrienne took Rainey B down to Seward for the day on Wednesday while I was busy with Tom and the surgery. They left about 8:45 am and returned 12 hours later after a fun filled drive to Seward, the Sealife Center, and the gift shops. Rainey loves her gift shops and its not that she wants to buy very much stuff but rather just likes to take "forever" looking at everything and lucky for her Adrienne is exactly the same way :) Here are a few pics from the Sealife Center and in one of them you can see the corner of the waterfall and the road out to Millers Landing.
The Surgery went great and they were able to put in two pins and some sutures to get the bone attached back where it should go. They decided not to do anything to the ball of the shoulder because it was pretty well lined up but just pushed down from the impact. Tom was expecting to take a few days off to rest but he was back in the office later that afternoon answering Emails and returning phone calls. He had a block put in before the surgery and so could not feel anything for about 24 hours but now he is taking pain meds every 2 hours and has ice on it all the time.
It is cooling down in Alaska. Nine days of nothing over 70 degrees. Yay, super, yippee, thank goodness. I know that sounds strange but we are just not set up here in Alaska for cont temps of 80 + for two months in a row. I did get my nifty magnetic door screens in the mail a few weeks ago and that helps keep a flow from the back of the house to the front of the house but concrete houses just do not cool off very fast once they heat up and our house is hot. Not to mention the extra cost this summer in electricity from running all the fans all the time. It gets to be spendy but worth it. I guess that is how other people feel about air conditioning.
Another trip in 2 weeks. We are going to Texas for Mother Ruth's birthday. Tom's sister and her husband will be there from Mississippi and his aunt and uncle from Alabama. Plus we are planning on going down to Galveston and spending the first night, playing on the beach, letting Rainey play in the Gulf of Mexico. She has never been in warm waters before so should be interesting. Then we are going up to Houston and doing some visiting we are planning on having dinner with Toms high school English teacher and her husband and then home one day before school starts for Miss Rainey B.
We had a snaffu (spelling) on the special day on August 6th. The attorney had to change it to the 27th of August due to a glitch she was unaware of about a notification. Nothing changes just the date.
I am headed into town this morning to run some errands : preparing for a certain little girls 5th birthday on Sunday. Yep, our Rainey will be 5 years old and it seems just like yesterday she was born minus a few "meltdowns" !! :)
